ALSO CAN I JUST SAY HOW NICE IT IS THAT A TV SHOW WILLING AND GRACEFULLY COMPARED THE LOVE BETWEEN AGRON AND NASIR, TWO MEN, TO NAEVIA AND CRIXUS, WHO ARE ARGUABLY THE MOST LOVED PAIRING IN SPARTACUS IN THAT SCENE. THIS SHOW IS A GIFT FROM THE GODS.

can we talk about how this is a show with a CANON QUEER RELATIONSHIP involving a POC and how both characters see not only significant plot time and development but grow as characters and have large sway in terms of storytelling and actual power in the story

and how they are treated nO DIFFERENT FROM ANY OF THE HETEROSEXUAL COUPLES AND ARE IN FACT THE ONLY ONE OF A FEW EXAMPLES OF A HEALTHY, LOVING AND COMMITTED RELATIONSHIP ON A SHOW WHERE MANIPULATION AND ABUSE ARE OFTEN USED SEXUALLY

here is a man, who is the very definition of beefcake, who fights wars and curses the Gods without fear and is so fiercely loyal to the people he loves

and he’s gay

AND NOBODY GIVES A SHIT BECAUSE 10 TIMES OUT OF 10, HE CAN KICK ROMAN ASS HARDER THAN YOU. AND THAT’S ALL THAT MATTERS TO HIS FRIENDS.

no one tries make his homosexuality seem like a weakness or a fault to his character

because it’s makes no different to them if Agron slept with men or women or both and that is such a refreshing sight to see

and then we have Nasir, who is arguably one of the most heartbreaking characters of all time, a pleasure slave from Syria who lost his family and his status and had no loyalty to anyone 

but Agron somehow manages to wiggle himself into that little crack left from his shattered heart and Nasir chooses to be with him

that is such a huge deal

this former pleasure slave from Syria had no say over the ownership of his own body, but still had ownership of his heart because that is one thing that Rome cannot take away from him,

and what does he do with that heart?

Nasir chooses to trust Agron with it, freely and whole-heartedly

JUST. i mean in the show, they throw around words like ‘cock in ass’ and being ‘fucked in the ass’ as a negative thing because back then it as all about dominance and being fucked in the ass was a metaphor for submission blah blah

but when it actually comes to an actual relationship between two men nO ONE GIVES A SHIT BECAUSE, THEY JUST DON’T, AND I CAN’T, i mean it would be different if it was two romans for example because of the problems with rank and authority and the questions of heirs and inheritance but but

spartacus himself preaches equality (another time we can talk about feminism because!!!!!!1 this show) and how every person regardless of gender or race deserves to live their life free and as they wish and that’s how the rebels aim to live their life

so if agron and nasir fall in love then that’s just a freaking GOOD thing to them because christ knows there needs to be more love in this godforsaken world

and then of course there’s all the stuff about how agron and nasir aren’t just defined by their relationship but are able to establish themselves individually as strong characters who are each others equals and aahahuiaHIHKLFJLK

DeKnight: No it was a conscious decision, I mean one of the great things about this show is that we approch sexuality between a man and a woman, a woman and a woman, a man and a man, it was all the same in this time.

DeKnight: And so with Agron and Nasir we really wanted to show a relationship from the very beginning and how it started and how it developed and ..dear I say you’ll see a lot more of it in this next season. A lot more of it!! (emphasis  on a lot more)

McIntyre: And can I say to those actors, Dan Feuerriegel and Pana Hema Taylor, they’ve formed their role immaculatly that’s I mean they are truly stunning to watch in those, in those scenes, they are just so, so alive, it’s beautiful.
