This one is of a difference. A gladiator standing beside Spartacus in valued position, the Celt Gannicus and the fallen Gaul his only equals.

Dan looks mighty good in that bottom right b&w panel. Wow!

My absolute favourite cat ever. This is a manul, or pallas cat. Found in the Afghan mountains, they’re one of the oldest pure-blood cousins of our own goggies.

they look like fat balls of rage

Just gonna leave this here

That last picture looks so much like how I imagined the Cheshire cat. I didn’t know that expression was possible on a real cat.  Whoa.

Dan Feuerriegel and Pana Hema Taylor, shipping Nagron harder than you.

It wasn’t like this in that other fandom. Nice change.

The best thing about Spartacus is its cast.

I’m seizing the opportunity to complain about wotd, because most of the season left me quite unsatisfied. There has been no interaction between female characters AT ALL. There have been no friendships among the rebels. Several characters are only defined through their relationship with one other character. There has been too much focus on the romans and they haven’t been very interesting or dynamic. I could go on with this, but I’ll just say that you’re not the only one who’s a bit disappointed.
forcrixus

Oh god yes, there was just in general not enough interaction between ANY of the characters - most tragically the female characters who got NOTHING with each other -, and not enough things made personal, either. Like, a lot of things that happened and choices that were made (and this was also a season where very few choices were made and a lot of things happened because of circumstances) didn’t really affect anyone or anything, minus a few exceptions.
Like, Caesar (or any Roman) infiltrating the rebels could’ve been great if he had started to grow sympathy for them (maybe not their cause, but their characters), maybe actually felt friendship for them and the rebels for him. That way “the betrayal” would’ve actually stung, Caesar’s character could have doubts and he would actually have a storyline, and the final confrontation would be a lot more personal. But instead, he’s Roman and wants to kill everyone, infiltrates, is Roman and wants to kill everyone. No change whatsoever for him or the rebels.

I MEAN, If YOU’RE GONNA SPEND THAT MUCH TIME WITH THE ROMANS AT LEAST DO SOMETHING ELSE WITH THEM BESIDES “MEN COMPETING TO BE ALPHA-MALE AROUND HERE” ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

And Blood and Sand for the longest time didn’t seem like anything that happened would have consequences either, but at least along the way you had relationships that were forming and ending and transforming, and then at the end it turned out everything the characters did came back to them. I waited all of WOTD for a similar   feeling of “oh, now it all makes sense!” but it never came and I think that’s mostly why I was just so disappointed by the finale:(

bygoshbygolly said: PS That gif is amazing and I will be crying about Crixus/Naevia for the next 7 million years

Apparently Tumblr eats your response when you comment more than once on a post, but you said that you wished there was a mini-series between vengeance and WOTD, which I don’t think would have helped? It’s not like they didn’t have enough time, considering they wasted SO MUCH OF IT. As I said above, nothing had lasting effects. The pirates - no point or change because of them BESIDE Laeta changing camps. And Laeta, I love her, but they should’ve either cut the pirates OR her appreciating Spartacus’ cause out of her story! First she gradually comes around to Spartacus’ way of thinking, but then they have pirate whatshisname brand her a slave so joining Spartacus becomes a necessity. Either make her consciously choose Spartacus’ side (yay, agency!) just because she agrees, or have her be a rebel-hating Roman, who suddenly finds herself a slave (hey, it could’ve given her a an actual storyline where she has to readjust to a new identity - which was basically just glossed over now). Now it’s like: looks like she’ll have to make a decision when Spartacus is in real trouble conflicting her personal feelings and her pride as a Roman and her practical side and her principled side - HAHA NOPE SEXUAL THREAT IS THE GREATEST MOTIVATION FOR ANYTHING THAT’S WHY WE USE THAT AND RAPE NO LESS THAN THREE TIMES TO GET CHARACTERS TO WHERE THEY NEED TO BE IN THE STORY ALSO REALLY FUNNY WHEN IT HAPPENS TO MEN HAHAHAHA CAESAR CAN’T RIDE HIS HORSE AWKWARDDDDD!

(And the rape-as-motivation is bad, but it’s essentially Naevia’s story too - though with her it was all about Naevia and how she had to work to not let it destroy her which she managed but it wasn’t fixed when she got vengeance, with both Kore and Caesar it did - but it’s even more horrible because there’s sexual violence, women not getting the stories the men get, NAEVIA’s FUCKING DEATH LIKE THE ENTIRE LAST EPISODE WAS ALREADY WRITTEN AND SHOT AND ONLY THEN DID SOMEONE NOTICE THEY FORGET TO GIVE NAEVIA AN END QUICK LET’S JUST STAB HER AND WE’RE DONE, Caesar doing a monologue while two women make out for him like what? You thought Game of thrones was the epitome of female sexuality done right? And like all of these things combined it’s just…you were SO GREAT with the writing of women and giving them agency and respect and stories, and this season you were somehow even worse than Game of Thrones.

There were also like SEVEN episodes of Sparty and Crixus doing the same fucking fight - over something that didn’t even really matter in the end! Sparty gave no fucks over the Romans Crixus killed in the city, and their parting wasn’t about anything they fought over - just that they wanted different things (getting everyone to safety vs destroying the acceptance of slavery altogether). YOU COULD HAVE DONE THIS ENTIRE STORYLINE IN 3 SCENES IN AS MUCH EPISODES.

somethingofthewolf said: also like, endlessly disappointed and grossed out with what happened with gannicus and that ~~virgin chick he got with; like i didnt even ship him and saxa, but jfc.

Everything about Saxa/Gannicus/Sibyl was just horrible. My standard reaction to someone calling a female character useless is to hit the back button immediately, but there is no other word to descrive Sybil’s role in the rebellion is there? And that wouldn’t even HAVE to be terrible! Saxa is a fighter, Sibyl is a helper (well…she prays). Great things could’ve come from that, with both just.not.getting the other’s point of view and trying to get Saxa to see less violent options, trying to get Sibyl to get angry and getting the stuff she wants instead of passively enduring and waiting, and gaining respect for the other’s methods along the way. Then if a triangle with Gannicus must happen, so be it. But their entire storyline this season wouldn’t be “Who gets Gannicus”. Sybil’s biggest “accomplishment” is motivating Gannicus to stop drinking and to fight the good fight, AND WE NEVER SEE THIS. GANNICUS JUST SAYS IT IS SO.
Ugh, when you think of Mira and Chadara, who had completely different views on life and yet still managed to be friends I DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY THIS SEASON IT’S SUDDENLY THIS MAN CAN CHOOSE BETWEEN THE SAINT AND THE WHORE AND NEVER SHALL THESE CATEGORIES OVERLAP OR WILL THE TWO SPEAK TO EACH OTHER.
And then Sibyl is the love of his life and he ~changes his ways~ for her because…her love is pure or something something? She makes his bits tingle cause that’s how Gannicus has always and probably would’ve always defined love? And then there are fucking SPARTACUS/SURA parallels? WHAT? And then he dies and doesn’t think of her? Like maybe I could’ve gotten the point if Gannicus had lived, and had found something to live and settle down for. BUT HE DIED. WHAT WAS THE FUCKING POINT.

Thank you! This pretty much sums up my feelings about where WOTD went wrong, with a self-added dash of how I wished they’d done more with Agron/Nasir - they had conflicts with Agron’s jealousy and need for vengeance at all costs, and with Nasir willingness to do just about anything Agron wants, but they never actually resolved those conflicts. There was no growth with them, not as a couple nor as individuals. In fact, I can’t think of a single character who showed any real growth this season.

WOTD could have been so much more than it was.

Vines of the Teen Wolf Cast

windycitygirl89:

Tyler’s is kinda scarring. JR Bourne is weird and cute. Orny Adams is obsessed. Dylan never continued that vid that I want him to continue. OMG, Charlie teaching his puppy how to howl is so adorable! Max has nothing. And the official Teen Wolf one is just about what you’d expect.
